This year we were given the theme of “Execution”, and in the first quarter of the year, we encountered a storm called COVID-19.
This ordeal reminded me of 2 Kings 7:4
If we say, ‘We will enter the city,’ the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die.”
- 2 Kings 7:4
Firstly, they were infected with a deadly disease called Leprosy; a long-term infection that leads to damage to the nerves, respiratory tract, skin, & eyes. This nerve damage may result in a lack of ability to feel pain, which can lead to the loss of a person's extremities. However, Leprosy didn’t stop them from executing their plan. Similarly, COVID-19 (or any disease) should not stop us from taking action in our various arenas & spheres of life. The lepers didn’t use their condition as a pivot of excuse. Instead, they ignored the current settings & took the necessary steps towards their heritage.
Secondly, they were rejected and thrust outside the city as outcasts. Dejection was their norm, and they were not permitted to go into the city at all. That in itself was a crisis. Being outside the city was a form of a lockdown, a procedure that prevented people from leaving or entering the area. Lockdowns are initiated by people in a position of authority, and in this case, the lockdown was used to protect people inside the city from leprosy. However, they ignored the death sentence that was placed on them & advanced into the city. They chose to rise from the ashes & realized God’s provision.
During this time, let’s continue to execute because time waits for no man.
There are so many things that we can do while at home, like study, pray, fast, exercise, develop a skill, do an online course, etc.
So stay at home, stay safe, and don’t be paralyzed to inaction.
EXECUTE !!!!
