There are several types of voices that could speak to us. Be it voices from trauma, voices from demons, voices of accusation, voices of poor guidance, they will all try to minister to us. However, there is only one voice that we should heed and allow, and that is the voice of God.
''.. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.” - John 10:4-5
To understand this verse better, we must understand how we as people are similar to sheep.
- Sheep can go astray
- Sheep need guidance
- Sheep can be paralyzed by fear and anxiety
- Sheep know their shepherd's voice
Like a good shepherd, God knows how to lead us calmly, and guide us in peace. The enemy also desires to lead us with his voice, except for our destruction. So we must know how to distinguish God's voice from the enemy's voice.
''..Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is mine. 6And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.”

The enemy will bring false evidence, speak lies, and try to make us tremble. But we must silence the enemy with the Word of God. The Word of God is active and we must use it daily, it is our defense. We must use our authority to pull down evil thoughts and rebuke the enemy in Jesus's name!
The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

God desires to lead us in our day-to-day lives, even in the small things. The more we familiarize ourselves with the voice of God the easier it is to know it. The voice of God is good, calm, a voice of reason, and wise. God is constantly speaking to us, and He is never going to lead us astray. We must trust our shepherd because He knows all things. He speaks of things that are eternal, so we must activate our faith as we listen to Him.
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
