We are living in a time where we must adopt a new normal. Which can come with confusion, anxiety, depression, prayerlessness, etc. All of these things can weaken us and leave us dry spiritually, however, we must keep on pushing.
He took Peter, James, and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death,” he said to them. “Stay here and keep watch.” Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him. “Abba, Father,” he said, “everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”
– Mark 14:33-36
Jesus went to pray when He was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. At this time in Gethsemane, even His friends the disciples could not pray for Him. It is during the trying moments in life when we realize our need for God’s strength. Although the easier route is to give in, become complacent, and just follow how we are feeling in our flesh, we must keep on pushing. Vs 35 records that Jesus fell to the ground and prayed (Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him.). We don’t have to wait until we experience trying moments to feel like praying. As children of God, we must be mindful and run towards His grace.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
– Psalm 23:1-3
We belong to God, and we are the sheep of His pastures, It is Him who makes us lie down in green pastures, and He is the one who leads us, and guides us along the right paths. So remember that the only place to run is towards Him, even if it means that we must do what Jesus did, fall onto the ground before God and surrender all of our confusion, weakness, and pain, during tough times.
Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them.
– Mark 14:10
Remember that the enemy was waiting and watching for an opportunity to hand Jesus over. Although the enemy was successful in handing Jesus over, Jesus still came out victorious. Whatever you may be going through, be it pain, suffering, or prayerlessness, always remember that when you lay your life before God, He will make all things work together for your good. He will turn around what the enemy meant for evil, be blessed.
