And Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you.”
- Genesis 22:5
It is very clear according to the Bible that God has called us to be givers. Giving allows us to worship the Lord, and honor God with what we have. Giving is also an expression of the love that we have for God, and it allows us to acknowledge Him.
In the Bible we meet a man named Abraham, he was a servant of God and strived to honor Him at all costs. Although, he lacked perfection he had the heart of a giver. Whenever he was asked to sacrifice his son, he didn't back out or resist. He simply said yes and offered his son to the Lord. He not only yielded to God's desires but opted to give a sacrifice that is much greater than anyone could ever imagine. In the end, he didn't have to kill his son. However, he was blessed with an entire nation. Needless to say, giving is powerful and the rewards are extraordinary.
Giving is a principle in the word of God
As we give, we can trust that God will bless us beyond what we could ever imagine. Whatever you need tomorrow, God has already set it up. Giving is an act of faith, so when you give it shows God that you believe and have confidence in Him. Giving is also an expression of the love that we have for God. It is a way of showing Him our gratitude and how we feel about Him.
Obedience is very important in regards to giving
Obedience opens the eyes of believers as well as the gates of Heaven. Sometimes God will ask us to give up things that are near and dear to us. However, we must respond with obedience, because God has already set up what we need for tomorrow. Truly, obedience requires faith. So when we give, we must remember who we are giving to.
The greatest giver of all time is Jesus Christ, He gave His life up for us and we benefit from His sacrifice every single day. So as we give let's not only remember who we are giving to but let's also look at our example!
Keep trusting God for your needs. Remember that giving is a reciprocal system that God created for Earth. It is also a lifestyle that every child of God should pursue.
