"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
- Acts 1:8
When we receive the Holy Spirit we receive power. The power of the Holy Spirit is for results, which is why we can pray for the sick and they get healed, it’s also why we can pray for miracles and they happen. The Holy Spirit allows us to minister to people, and discuss Jesus with nonbelievers. As much as we can, we should be witnesses. The Bible says the one who wins souls is wise, so bring your friend and workmates to church! You can also evangelize on social media because you have the power to win someone to Christ.
At Pentecost, it was the spirit of God that gave them the utterance, and it was the believers who were speaking. It is important to develop your gift of speaking in tongues. You can develop your tongues into many tongues, and diverse tongues by practicing. So pray on your own, Paul says in “I speak in tongues more than you all” which means that he was always praying, speaking, and practicing, in tongues. Which furthered his ability to speak in tongues.
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
- Acts 2:1-4
In Acts 2 we see a release of gifts even Peter preached in a new way because of the move of the Holy ghost. Gifts like the interpretation of tongues, prophecy, word of knowledge, discernment of spirits, word of wisdom, and so forth are given whenever we receive the Holy Spirit. We need to have these gifts today. Any one of us can operate in spiritual gifts once we have the Holy Spirit.
One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer-at three in the afternoon. Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, "Look at us!" So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, "Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk."
- Acts 3:1-6
In Acts 3 we see believers praying for a lame man and he was healed, because of the anointing miracles happen. It was a notable miracle, and it can still happen today because of the annoying that we have.
In John 14:6 Jesus speaks of the Holy spirit and mentions that He is a comforter, meaning that we can seek comfort from the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comforts us we forget about our troubles, and we feel better. We can't spend our lives crying and mourning over old situations, instead, we can call on the Holy Spirit and ask Him to comfort us. Instead of seeking comfort from people, we should seek it from the Lord.
The Holy Spirit is also our immediate helper, so we should engage Him in our lives. The Holy Spirit can even help us pray. It is the Holy Spirit who carries us as we pray and groans through us. Meaning that there are certain levels that our vocabulary could never reach, but engagement with the Holy spirit allows Him to pray through us.
There is a continual filling that the Holy Spirit gives us, the Bible even mentions that our horns should always be filled with oil. The yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing. There are yokes in our lives that must be broken by the anointing. Let's remember this as we move through life.
