Trust the Lord

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

Proverbs 3:5-6 Says,

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Throughout time bridges have been used as channels of transportation, for people to cross from one side over to the other. Modern-day bridges may have upwards of 500,00 cars driven on them each day. However, some bridges have fallen, crumbled, and given up as cars were crossing over them. Yet, others have remained solid and have never crumbled, despite the pressure and weight that they have experienced. As Christians, it is very important that we trust the Lord at all times, no matter what our circumstances may look like. We too must remain solid and stand firm in the promises of God, just like the strong bridges that have stood the test of time.

Be a believer

Since we’re called believers we must be intentional about believing and trusting God at all times. It is mentioned in Matthew 13 that as Jesus traveled He wasn't able to do miracles in certain cities, because the people that resided there lived in unbelief. Jesus would not stay in places where the people didn't trust in Him and were full of skepticism. Instead, He would stay in cities where He was celebrated and the people believed in Him. It was in those cities that people would experience miraculous healings and have testimonies. Even now in the 21st century, we must trust the Lord if we want to have miraculous outcomes in our lives.

Trust in God alone

It is very important for us to trust the Lord completely, not just partially. All of our trust must be in the Lord and nothing else! Don’t depend on your education, intelligence, or finances, because they won’t sustain you. Don’t even put your trust in people, because they may not always be around. The word of God says in Jeremiah 17:5 that “..Cursed is the man who trusts in man”. God will sometimes even remove people from your life so that you can place your trust in Him, and Him alone.

The difference between faith and trust

Sometimes we have faith but we lack trust. Why? Because trust is higher than faith.

Faith is the belief that God can do anything; however trust kicks in when we get unexpected results, unforeseen circumstances, and when we don't get what we’ve been believing for. Yet, we still choose to believe that God has great plans ahead. Unfortunately, some people will have faith and stop there. However, God wants us to trust Him despite our circumstances, and know that He works all things together for our good. So no matter what you’re going through, trust God's Judgment, He knows what’s best!

A great example of trust

Daniel was faithful to God despite his circumstances. He never gave up on God because he trusted him with all of his heart. Even though Daniel was captured, turned into a eunuch, and put into the lion's den; he still trusted in the highest God. Because he knew God’s character and relied on Him more than anything else.

Above all else trust the Lord! No matter what your life looks like, no matter what your situation looks like, and no matter what your circumstances look like. Trust God! He is always constant and dependable, and He will never let you down. So trust Him today!

Reflection questions:

In which areas of your life could you trust God more?

Why do you think trusting God can be very difficult at times?
